Julia's Eyes (Spanish: Los ojos de Julia) is a 2010 Spanish
thriller.Belén Rueda who had stared in the Spanish horror movie The
Orphanage is back with a solid performance in this movie, she almost
carries the entire movie on her able shoulders brilliantly! Her
performance is top notch! The first one hour of the movie is brilliant,
creepy and makes you even doubt if it is a supernatural thriller.
The twists and turns keeps you guessing as you are unsure which way the story would go. The last 30 minutes becomes a cat and mouse game between Julia and the imaginary killer? Does he really exist as no one has seen him.
I felt no one could have carried the movie so well like Belén Rueda, who plays twin sisters who are suffering from the hereditary degenerative disease in their eyes. While her twin sister commits suicide after losing her sight. Whereas, Julia has a feeling that it wasn't a suicide and she goes to prove her point while her sight starts deteriorating.
I felt that the concept itself was too good and it was executed very well by the same team that gave us The Orphanage : Brilliant actress (Belen Rueda), producer (Guillermo Del Toro), musician (Fernando Velazquez) and cameraman (Oscar Faura).
I am loving Spanish thriller from last few days even though I don't know a single Spanish word, thanks to the English subtitles. The movie keeps you on the edge with the tension created by great acting specially from Belen Rueda, good haunting and effective back ground score, nice lighting that gives a feel of creepiness, add to it solid script and screenplay, and you have a thriller which you can't give a miss! My rating is 4.5/5. Highly recommended.
