It (English) 2017

It (English) 2017: I have seen the original, but that was long time back. What works for this movie is a bunch of kids who come together to face the menacing clown.Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise, the clown is creepy, disturbing and at the same time humorous as well. 

The kids chosen for the movie have done a good job too. I had a feeling like watching two movies : Stand by me and A nightmare on elm street. It was like a mixture of both in a good way. The kids have great chemistry, are believable and their friendship makes this movie worthwhile to watch.

The best part of the movie is the opening scene where you get to see Pennywise for the first time, and that is the most menacing scene in the movie.

After that CGI takes over and it isn't scary or so menacing anymore. That is one thing that works against the movie. They could have focused more on Bill Skarsgard's natural performance which could have made this one even better than allowing CGI to take over him. The CGI is all over the place and almost ruins the scare factor to a major extent. I haven't read Stephen King's novel, so I can't comment how close it is to the book. Anyways, it is good one time watch. My rating is 3.5/5.
