A Short Story by G.S.Vasukumar
Mohan Pandey, a successful businessman had been a perfect stranger before in his life. He had no friends nor relatives. He didn't even know how his parents looked like, as they had passed away when he was too young.
He was brought up in some orphanage. He was glad that he was brought up there; for it is there that he realized the real meaning of life. He knew the value of family as he had none, but despite his background he came up in his life.
It was twenty years back, when he had married Shantala and took the responsibility of her cute little daughter, Jasmine, who was three years old then.
He had kept a secret from her all these years. Even now he didn't have the courage to tell her the same. As he was worried how she may take it. It was her mother who told her everything.
Mohan saw gratitude in her eyes when she came and hugged him.
"Thanks..dad.Thanks for everything you did to us." She said, with tears in her eyes.
"No, my child, I'm grateful to your mother for making me your father. I was a perfect stranger then. She had trusted me. I'm glad that I got a wonderful family." He replied.
"No, father, it is because of you that I'm going to marry someone and settle in my life. If not, I too would have ended up in the flesh trade like mother. You rescued me and mother, brought us to this city and gave us a new meaning to our lives." She said.
The End
